Thabo Cele shines in Portugal

A few South African stars were involved with their respective clubs abroad this past weekend.

Thabo Cele and Mihlali Mayambela finished their season with goals while Luke le Roux had a night to forget in Sweden.

LE ROUX, MATTHEWS & MOON

Luke le Roux, pictured above, was sent off in the first half as Varbergs BoIS lost 3-1 against BK Hacken on Sunday evening.

Tashreeq Matthews played the entire 90 minutes while Ryan Moon was introduced in the 59th minute of the encounter.

LIAM JORDAN

The forward was awarded the Man of the Match award after netting a brace to help Helsingor earn a point at home against Silkeborg in the Danish 1st Division.

THABO CELE

Cele was voted as the Man of the Match after scoring a goal and assisting another strike to help Cova di Piedade thump Casa Pia 4-0 in the Portuguese second tier on Saturday.

This was the midfielder’s last game for the club with his deal set to expire at the end of June.

MIHLALI MAYAMBELA

Mayambela scored his third goal for Academica as they defeated Leixoes 2-1 in the Portuguese Segunda Liga on Saturday afternoon.

KOBAMELO KODISANG

The winger was in action, but couldn’t help SC Braga B avoid a 3-1 defeat against Anadia in the Campeonato de Portugal promotion play-offs.

JERMAINE SEOPOSENWE

Seoposenwe played the entire 90 minutes as SC Braga won 2-0 against Famalicao.

LINDA MOTLHALO

The attacking midfielder played the whole 90 minutes and laid an assist as Djurgaden DFF lost 3-2 against Hammarby.

HILDAH MAGAIA

The winger played 90 minutes and scored her fourth goal of the season as BK Moron defeated Sundsvall 3-0 in Sweden.

KWINDA NETSHITANGANI 

The winger netted a brace to help FC Malaga City secure a point after a thrilling 3-3 draw against CD Tribuco.

JANINE VAN WYK & ODE FULUTUDILU

Van Wyk lasted 90 minutes while Fulutudilu played 68 minutes as Glasgow City were held to a 0-0 draw by Hibernian.
