Ex Jomo Cosmos captain Andrew ‘Jaws of Life’ Rabutla believes it’s only a matter of time before his former club returns to South Africa’s top division.
Ezenkosi have been participating in the GladAfrica Championship for four seasons now following their relegation at the end of the 2015/16 season.
Cosmos are in danger of being relegated to the ABC Motsepe League as they currently sit second from bottom on the log with six matches remaining.
But Rabutla who has also played for Greek side PAOK FC insists there is no reason to panic.
“Cosmos will bounce back I know Bra J (Jomo Sono) is a coach who believes in himself so much and I know they will bounce back in those last games and move away from that position,” Rabutla told FARPost.
The former Bafana Bafana defender also believes that Cosmos have not recovered from selling key players like Frédéric Nsabiyumva, King Ndlovu, Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo and Linda Mntambo.
“When Bra J lost a lot of players especially Freddy (Nsabiyumva) the Burundian defender and Mntambo, it was so difficult to recover after losing such quality players and after that Cosmos were struggling” he said.
“I am 100% sure that Jomo will survive this season and next season he will compete because honestly the PSL (Absa Premiership) miss Jomo Sono, they definitely miss Jomo Cosmos in the top League,” concluded Rabutla.
Cosmos have been relegated to the GladAfrica Championship four times since the inception of the PSL in 1996 and this is the longest period that they have spent in the lower league.
