The Phumudzo Manenzhe Foundation Annual Soccer Tournament came to an end on Thursday and as usual people of Madombidzha, Limpopo came out in numbers to support their son.
The Top 8 Tourney which is on its 3rd year is hosted and organised by the former Orlando Pirates striker at his home village through his foundation.
Manenzhe is hoping for a more turn of scouts in next year’s edition give the talent on disposal.
“We had a couple of scouts here, we have coaches from Black Leopards MDC, we have coaches from Highlands Park so in terms of talent that is being scouted here we have a lot. I have been assisting here and there because I also have a committee of selectors that are here selecting the different stars” Manenzhe told FARPost.co.za.
“In the past we have had the likes of Rendani Maduwa who was selected in the very same tournament and ended up going to Magesi FC then Black Leopards. Last year’s midfielder of the season is a youngster that was 15 years of age and he has now gone to Bidvest Wits playing for their Under 17 team,” concluded Manenzhe.
Western Stars defended their title after beating Madombidzha Try Again 1-0 in the final. SAFA referee Victor Hlungwani who was in attendance has also committed to donating referees’ kit for next year’s edition.
