Orlando Pirates’ away form in the Absa Premiership is nothing to write home about as they head to Makhulong Stadium tonight.
The Buccaneers face Highlands Park in what would appear to be a tricky away match for Rulani Mokwena’s charges.
Not only did Pirates suffer a 1-0 defeat to Stellenbosch in their last encounter, which was away, but they’ve gone five Absa Premiership matches without a win, with three defeats and two draws in their last five away league games.
One of the draws was when they ruined their 2018/19 league chances, drawing 2-2 with Cape Town City in May.
From there, eventual winners Mamelodi Sundowns took full advantage and won their consecutive league title.
Now Pirates lie in 10th spot in the league – a massive 13 points behind the leaders and rivals, Kaizer Chiefs.
Can Pirates turn the corner by beating Owen da Gama’s men?
The Lions of the North are showing good form this campaign. They are fourth on the log, with four victories in their last five Absa Premiership matches.
Pirates certainly have their backs against the wall in this one.
Kick off is at 19:30.
