Ismael Bennacer is pleased to have played a crucial role in AC Milan’s victory against Juventus on Sunday.
The Rossoneri defeated the reigning champions 3-0 thanks to goals from Fikayo Tomori, Ante Rebic and Brahim Diaz.
Bennacer played 82 minutes and laid an assist for the second goal as Milan remained in third place on the table. They have accumulated 72 points from 35 games so far this season.
Speaking to the media after the game, the 23-year-old admitted that he was very pleased with his performance on the day.
“It’s the best performance I’ve had at Milan, certainly.
“We are happy, but we can’t let go now, we are playing every three days and need to keep it going. There are three games to go, we have to work hard and give our all. We’re on the right path, but we’re not there yet.”
He continued to praise some of the experienced players in the team for their guidance and influence during big games.
“Ibrahimovic talks, so does Simon Kjaer. They are experienced players, so we listen and do what they say.
“When you have a player like Ibra who says what you have to due to this team, you know that you have to give 200 percent. The coach told us before the game that we had to treat this like a final, and we had to win it.”
Despite being hit by a few injuries, the midfielder has managed to play 18 Serie A games so far this season. He is yet to score a goal for the Rossoneri, but he has three assists to his name.
On Wednesday, Milan travel to Turin to face Torino in the league.
Only three points separate fifth-placed Juventus and second-placed Atalanta Calcio with three games left to play.
