Brazilian defender Thiago Silva has completed a medical ahead of his imminent move to Chelsea, according to 90min.com.
Silva is a free agent after departing Paris Saint-Germain following the expiration of his contract. Silva’s final game as a PSG player was this season’s Champions League final which they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich.
Silva underwent and passed a medical in Milan on Thursday and is now waiting to sign the documents that will make him a Chelsea player.
He’s expected to fly from Italy to London in the coming days, where he will then enter a 14-day period of self isolation in adherence to COVID-19 regulations before joining up with Lampard’s squad. It is thought he will join on a lucrative 12-month contract, with an option of a one-year extension.
It’s believed that Chelsea faced competition from the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Wolves but ‘The Blues’ won the race.
Chilwell and Silva will also be joined at Stamford Bridge by Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech but fellow recent signing Malang Sarr – signed on a free transfer after his release by Nice – is set to spend the season out on loan.
Chelsea also appear to be edging closer to the signing of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz.
