There are several players who can make an impact in the new-look Bafana Bafana side as they take on Zimbabwe in their opening Fifa World Cup qualifier on Friday afternoon (15:00) in Harare.

Hugo Broos’ men will be looking to get off to a perfect start against a weakened Zimbabwe side.

Tau will be leading Bafana’s attack and his display in the World Cup qualifiers will be vital to the nation’s chances of securing a spot in Qatar next year.


The Royal AM striker played a vital role in Bafana’s recent triumph at the Cosafa Championship and will be looking to add to his international goal tally.

Letsoalo was consistent throughout the course of last season. ‘The Warriors’ defenders will probably have to put in an extra shift to stop the Bafana hitman.


He is one of the most experienced players in the current Bafana squad.

The Bafana captain’s leadership will be crucial at the back for Broos’ men – a youthful squad. Williams also captained the SA U-23 team at the Tokyo Olympics but the performance of the team left a lot to be desired with the goalkeeper receiving plenty of criticism.

He will look to prove that he is still the undisputed No 1 in South Africa in the World Cup qualifiers.
