On Friday afternoon, South Africa will lock horns with neighbhours Zimbabwe in match day one of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

The Warriors have some key players who might give Bafana Bafana a headache at the Zimbabwe National Sports Stadium.

TINO KADEWERE

Born in Harare, Kadewere rose to prominence in the 2019/20 season when he terrorized defences in France’s second division while at Le Harve.

His 20 league goals in 24 games earned him a big money move to Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais last season.

On his first season in the top-flight, he netted ten league goals, including a winner against giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Kadewere has yet to fully take flight for the Warriors, but he is back to full fitness this season after a hernia operation and could be a key man against Bafana.

KNOWLEDGE MUSONA

The leader in the Warriors change room, Musona is a familiar face for most of South Africa’s players having played in the Premier Soccer League in the past.

Musona recently came out saying the team will fight until the last minute against their Cosafa rivals on Friday afternoon.

He is the most experienced player in the squad with 23 goals in 42 national team appearances for the Warriors.

The ‘Silent Assassin’ comes to the national team oozing with confidence after recently scoring his first goal for his new club Al-Tai in the United Arab Emirates.

Last season, the 31-year-old scored seven goals and assisted another two strikes in 24 appearances for Belgian Jupiler Pro League side Kas Eupen.

MARSHALL MUNETSI

In the absence of Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, the former Orlando Pirates midfielder will be the key figure in the middle of the park for the Warriors.

Despite his tender age, Munetsi has established himself as one of the senior players in the national team where he has earned 19 international caps since making his debut in 2018.

Munetsi is a regular starter for his France Ligue 1 side Stade Reims. Last season, the 25-year-old played 27 league games.

He has played four league games in the 2021/22 campaign and already opened his goal scoring account with a beautiful strike against FC Metz on match day three.

Last weekend, Munetsi made international headlines after an impressive display against a star-studded PSG team which included debutant Lionel Messi.

Date of match: 03 September 2021.

Kick-off time: 15:00 (SA TIME).
