Maritzburg United head coach Eric Tinkler admits that he’s disappointed about how his side played against Chippa United in their DStv Premiership encounter at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Chilli Boys secured their first win of the season after hammering Maritzburg 3-1, thanks to Bienvenu Eva Nga’s hat-trick. Maritzburg were the first to find the back of the net 10 minutes into the game, courtesy of Daylon Claasen.

“I feel for the boys. We performed very well in the first half. We had chances to control the game. We have a lot of work in the next few weeks,” Tinkler said in a post-match interview.

The Blue Army have now lost three games in a row at the start of the 2020/21 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign.

The KZN-based outfit went into yesterday’s clash with a good record against the Eastern Cape team with five wins, two defeats, and seven draws in 14 games. However, the Chilli Boys were too hot for Maritzburg.

The Team of Choice will return to DStv Premiership action after the international break against Black Leopards at Thohoyandou Stadium on the 21st of November.
