Maritzburg United head coach Eric Tinkler insists that positive results will be a moral booster for his side against Black Leopards in their DStv Premiership clash on Saturday at Thohoyandou Stadium.
The game will kick off at 15h30.
The Team of Choice are yet to register a win in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) this season, having lost all of their three league games.
“It’s when the chips are down that true characters and bravery are needed, and this has something which the Pietermaritzburg club have exhibited in the past couple of seasons,” Maritzburg United stated in a statement.
However, coach Tinkler is calling for a big effort from his men as they look to start picking up some positive momentum in the upcoming weeks.
“It’s a tough away fixture but we are trying to get back to winning ways. So we obviously need to go to Thohoyandou and get a positive result,” Tinkler told the club’s official website.
“I think getting a positive result there will boost the morale and confidence of the team and we can then see ourselves turning the corner in getting more good results.”
The KZN based side mentor added that the good thing is they have a few more players who are available for selection.
Meanwhile, the club stated that they are close to a clean bill of health, with the only injury absentee being Mxolisi Kunene, whereas Riyaaz Ismail and Sibusiso Hlubi will miss the game due to suspension.
Maritzburg go into this encounter seeking revenge for last season’s mischief caused by Lidoda Duvha, who secured six points from the Blue Army, a 3-2 home win and a 1-0 victory at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
