CAF Organising Committee for Youth Competitions have confirmed the disqualification of Togo from the U-17 WAFU-B tournament due to fielding two players deemed ineligible based on MRI test results.
This tournament serves as qualifiers for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) slated for Morocco this year.
The organising Committee has succumbed to a decision to disqualify Togo in accordance with article 27.4 of the regulations of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
“If after having carried out the age eligibility test (MRI) for a participating team and a player s ‘is revealed ineligible, the participating team will be disqualified,” stipulates article 27.4 of the regulations.
As a result, all the points collected by Togo during the tournament will be forfeited. The Sparrow Hawks as the host country had already played two games defeating Niger 2-1 and Benin 3-1.
