Germany side VfB Stuggart have lost in-form Congolese forward Silas Wamangituka for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.
Wamangituka ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee in a League match against Bayern Munich prior to the international break.
The 21-year-old had a surgery done on his knee on Friday at the Sportklinik Stuttgart, where it was confirmed that he will not recover in time to finish off the current campaign. In fact, he could also miss their 2021/22 pre-season preparations.
His unavailability is a huge blow to the German Bundesliga club who had banked on him for crucial goals in all competitions.
VfB Stuttgart’s sports director Sven Mislintat recently confirmed the setback.
“Wamangituka tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. This means that the 21-year-old Congolese will no longer be available for VfB this season and will be out for several months.
“The exact course of therapy will be decided in the next few days. The diagnosis hits both Wamangituka and VfB hard, after all, with eleven goals this season and four assists, the flank player was one of the Stuttgart high-flyers this season,” he said.
Wamangituka was having a fantastic season for VfB Stuttgart as he had scored 13 goals and provided five assists in all competitions.
