Democratic Republic of Congo giants TP Mazembe were attacked by rival supporters in their homeland on Wednesday.

Mazembe were playing FC Sanga Balende in Mbuji Mayi, central DRC, where they scored a late win, something that displeased the hosts’ supporters.

The supporters then started stoning the Mazembe entourage leaving four players injured. Amongst the players injured was Zambia’s footballer Kabaso Chongo who is currently nursing head injuries

“I am still in a lot of pain. I can’t say when exactly I will be back in training but I will need a few days to recover,” Chongo told the BBC sports.

Mazembe are hoping to defend the league though they are second after Kinshasa-based AS Vita, who are the current leaders.
