After waiting for a long time to register their Malawian player Chawanangwa Kaonga, TS Sporting are finally free to register and use the former Costa de Sol player.

Sporting had to take the matter to FIFA’s Players Committee after the Mozambican side refused to give them the clearance claiming that the Malawian player was still contracted to them.

Now Sporting chairman Slungu Thobela tells FARPost that they have been given the clearance and the player is ready to feature for them.

“Yes, you remember we had to go to FIFA for the clearance? Yeah now we got the clearance and the player is ready to play. If all goes well, he could even play this weekend.

“But we didn’t want to go public until we get the card from the Premier Soccer League (PSL) but yeah, we got the clearance and we were just waiting for the card for him to play now, “said Thobela.

The Malawian International has signed a contract with Sporting until 2022.

The GladAfrica Championship side will face Happy Wanderers in the Nedbank Cup last 16 fixture at Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday and Thobela says they are focusing both on the League and cup games.

“We want to win in the cup and continue collecting points in the League. We are fighting for a playoff spot and we can achieve that. We won’t lose any game now until the end and that will qualify us for the playoffs,” he concluded.

Sporting are currently 13th on the log standings with 23 points from their 21 matches. They are 14 points adrift from the all important playoff spot (second/third position).
