National U23 trio of Keletso Makgalwa, Tercious Malepe and Mondli Mpoto arrived in Egypt this morning to join the rest of their teammates ahead of the opening 2019 U23 Africa Cup of Nations match.
They now take the number of players in camp to 15, two days before their Group B match against neighbours Zambia at the Al Salam Stadium on Saturday at 20:00.
Head coach David Notoane has expressed his gratitude to the clubs who allowed the players to join the national team.
“Yah we welcome today Keletso Makgalwa, Mondli Mpoto and the captain Tercious Malepe who arrived this morning to push our numbers now to 15 and of course to improve our team for our preparations for the game against Zambia,” said Notoane, who initially called up 21 players.
“We appreciate the support from the clubs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Bloemfontein Celtic and (Chippa United).”
Notoane’s boys will also face both Ivory Coast and Nigeria in their remaining two group matches with the ambitions of reaching the knockout rounds of this competition.
A top three finish in this quadrennial U23 continental showpiece will guarantee SA a place in next year’s Tokyo Summer Olympic Games.
