Leicester City maintained their place in the top four of the English Premier League with a 3-0 win against West Brom on Thursday evening.
The Foxes were too strong for the visitors with goals from Kelechi Iheanacho, Jamie Vardy and Johny Evans enough to take all three points at the King Power Stadium.
Despite Sam Allardyce saying that he had a plan to stop Vardy and Iheanacho going into the encounter, the on-form duo still managed to get beyond the Baggies defence and score two crucial goals in the first half of encounter.
For the first goal, Timothy Castagne did some beautiful work on the right flank before teeing up Vardy who made no mistake from inside the box to give the hosts a well-deserved lead with 23 minutes played. Three minutes later, Evans made it 2-0 to the Foxes after a Youri Tielimans corner – the Foxes were now cruising at King Power.
With nine remaining before half time, Vardy received the ball on the flank and found his striking partner Iheanacho who made no mistake from close range to give the hosts a 3-0 lead going into the break.
Leicester held on and took maximum points at home. The former English champions remain in third spot on the table with 59 points from 32 games played in the league.
Nigerian midfielder Wilfried Ndidi started and played the whole 90 minutes in midfield for the Foxes.
Elsewhere, Victor Osimhen came off the bench to score as Napoli defeated Lazio 5-2 in the Italian Serie A on Thursday evening. This was the striker’s sixth goal of the season for Napoli.
Osimhen has turned things around after initially struggling to adjust to life in Italy. The striker has been key for Gennaro Gattuso’s side as they fight to finish the season in the top four to secure Uefa Champions League football next season.
Napoli sit in sixth spot on the table with 63 points from 32 games. They are three points behind fourth-placed Juventus.
