Vaal Professionals and Leruma matter escalate to high court

It never rains but pours in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.

The second leg of the provincial playoffs which was supposed to be played on 16 June between Vaal Professionals and Leruma United was called off due to an ongoing case lodged by Vaal Pros after the first leg.

As reported by FARPost on Monday, the Vereeniging-based outfit have lodged a complaint, citing that Leruma did not follow the rule of under 23 as they substituted four of their under 23 players before half time of which they were left with one under 23 player.

According to an insider, the matter was heard before the Safa Gauteng of which Leruma won the case and Vaal Pros were ordered to pay a R100 000 fine.

However, due to the unsatisfactory outcome of the case handed down by the arbitrator, Vaal Pros have decided to take the matter to the Gauteng High Court.

The high court’s outcome is set to be issued out in due course.

The first leg encounter of the provincial playoffs which played this past weekend ended with a 2-1 scoreline in favour of Leruma.
