Banyana Banyana captain Janine van Wyk is on the verge of winning the Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) title with Glasgow City.
Van Wyk joined the side in July 2020 as a free agent.
The 34-year-old defender has been exceptional for Glasgow this season and has become an important member of the club.
She has now scored three goals this season, hoping for more when they face fourth-placed Spartans on Sunday, 30 May.
Glasgow are just four points away from clinching the SWPL title, as they are currently on the summit of the log standings with 50 points – three ahead of second-placed Celtic.
In an interview with Safa.net a week ago, Van Wyk said that: “It will be a huge achievement for me in my career to win a league title abroad.”
The side’s final league game will be against Rangers, who are third on the table with 45 points after 19 outings. This encounter is expected to be a fascinating one because Rangers are fighting for a spot in the Uefa Women’s Champions League.
