Varsity Football 2021: UJ, UP-TUKS and TUT in crucial wins

The fourth round of matches for Varsity Football 2021 were completed this evening at the TUKS stadium.

UJ 2-0 UKZN

Coach Karabo Mogudi’s Orange Army annihilated the tournament’s whipping boys UKZN with a two goals to nil scoreline. UJ now tops the standings with 10 points from 4 matches.

UFS 0-0 NWU

An enterprising match between the two exciting teams ended in 0-0 stalemate.

TUT 2-1 Wits

Coach Bushy Moloi’s Red Army produced a stunning, gutsy and refreshed performance by beating provincial rivals, Wits by 2 goals to one (2-1).

Overall, TUT came with a high-pressure and firing mentality to salvage their first win in the championship and are only 3 points adrift from the second, third and fourth placed teams (NWU, UFS and UP-TUKS).

With VUT losing to UP-TUKS (0-1), the tournament has been thrown wide open with Round 5 matches still to come on 22nd September 2021.
