Veldwijk continues hot form in Korea

It was a weekend of mixed results for Mzansi’s stars abroad.

Mihlali Mayambela scored his second goal of the season for Academica while Lars Veldwijk continued his form in the colours of FC Suwon in Korea.

BRADLEY CROSS

Cross played 90 minutes as Newcastle United U23 narrowly lost 2-1 against Aston Villa on Friday evening in the English Premier League 2.

PHILLIPE SANDLER

The 24-year-old continued his return to full fitness with a solid 90 minutes performance for Manchester City’s U23 as they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 6-1 in the Premier League 2 on Friday.

SIYABONGA LIGENDZA

Ligendza played 90 minutes and laid two assists as Cardiff City U18s defeated Ipswich Town 6-0 on Saturday.

KOBAMELO KODISANG

Kodisang played the entire game, but couldn’t help SC Braga B avoid a 3-0 defeat against Trofense in the Campeonato de Portugal.

LUTHER SINGH

Singh was introduced in the second half as Pacos Ferreira was held to a 1-1 draw by Maritimo in the Primeira Liga on Sunday afternoon.

The winger played 80 minutes and scored his second goal of the season as Academica drew 2-2 against Maffra on Saturday afternoon.

RYAN MOON, TASHREEQ MATTHEWS & LUKE LE ROUX

The trio started, but couldn’t help Varbergs BoIS avoid a 3-2 defeat against giants Malmo away from home.

Moon and Matthews played 64 minutes while Le Roux was on the pitch for 73 minutes in the encounter. Matthews laid an assist for the first goal for Varbergs who slipped to 14th spot on the table with four points from five games.

LINDA MOTLHALO

Motlhalo played 90 minutes, but couldn’t help Djurgaden DFF avoid a 3-0 defeat against log leaders Rosengard in the Swedish Dammallsvenkan.

HILDAH MAGAIA

The attacker played 45 minutes and scored her fourth goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough to help Moron BK avoid a 2-1 defeat against Lidkopings BK in Sweden.

REFILOE JANE

The Banyana Banyana midfielder played 79 minutes as the Rossoneri got thumped 3-1 by Fiorentina in Italy’s Serie A on Sunday afternoon. The loss was a big blow for Milan who are now 11 points behind log leaders Juventus.

SIYANDA XULU 

Xulu played 90 minutes as Hapoel Tel Aviv lost 1-0 against Bnei Yehuda in the Israel Premier League.

TIMOTHY MUZI

The teenager played 59 minutes and scored the first goal for Hapoel K.far Saba as they lost 3-2 against Hapoel Haifa.

NOKO MATLOU

The veteran defender played 83 minutes as SD Eibar held Real Betis to a 1-1 draw away from home.

ODE FULUTUDILU & JANINE VAN WYK

Van Wyk played the entire match while Fulutudilu lasted 70 minutes as Glasgow City defeated arch-rivals Glasgow Rangers 2-0 in the league on Sunday afternoon.

LEBOGANG RAMALEPE

The right back played 90 minutes as Dinamo Minsk defeated Isloch 3-1 in the Belarusian Premiership on Sunday.

Links was introduced in the 67th minute as AGF Aarhus got back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory against Randers FC.

Smith played 90 minutes as FC Honka defeated KTP in the Finnish top flight on Saturday evening.

LARS VELDWIJK

The big striker played 90 minutes and scored his fourth league goal of the season as FC Suwon defeated Jeju United 3-1 in the Korean K-League on Saturday.

THULANI SERERO

Serero started and got substituted in additional time as Al Jazira defeated Al Ain 2-0 in the Arabian Gulf League on Friday evening.

BOIPELO MASHIGO 

The winger was introduced in the 85th minute as SpVgg Unterhaching defeated Bayern Munich II 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
