AmaZulu FC reserve side coach Siboniso Vilakazi has praised his players for doubling their efforts, after they won the Dstv Diski Challenge Rewired tournament.
Vilakazi’s charges finished the tournament unbeaten and they defeated the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns on their way to victory.
The coach was ecstatic as he felt his game plan and approach to the game worked wonders for them, after claiming a 2-0 victory against Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Sunday.
“We are very excited, we are happy but credit must go to the players and glory to the Almighty God, who gave us strength that we went so far,” Vilakazi reflected.
“We have been working so hard, I mean the boys did extremely well and again they responded very well in terms of tactical.
“You look at the game, especially in the first half of course we wanted to get one and then we knew very well, we were having the strategy that going back to the second half we knew they are going to throw everything.
“And then the question is, if you are going to the second half, do you still want to play an open game?
“Then the answer is no, because they are the ones that are going to chase the game, allow them to have ball possession, allow them to throw everything, but catch them on the counter,” he continued.
“That’s why we got that penalty, because we knew very well that they will just try to throw everything.
“But credit must go to the boys and again thank you so much from Dstv Diski Challenge, again from Mr Manzini we really appreciate, even technical first team coach Benni McCarthy,” said Vilakazi.
