AmaZulu FC reserve side coach Siboniso Vilakazi has applauded his side for making it to the final of the Dstv Diski Challenge Rewired, where they will face Mamelodi Sundowns reserves (11am this morning).
Nini, as Vilakazi is affectionately known in football circles, revealed that it was part of their plan to play more than seven games in the tournament.
“It has been very tough and hard work from the boys, working week in or day in day out. Credit must go to them,” he said.
“But look, we are not in the final with luck or by any mistake, because when we started the competition, we set the target for ourselves, just to say we need to play seven plus games.
“In the group stage we were supposed to play seven games which we did and we kept a good record, because we are still unbeaten which is good.
“I mean they deserve it (qualifying for the final), because they have applied themselves accordingly, in terms of tactics in those games that we’ve played,” Zungu continued.
“We are expecting a very great tough encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns as we did against Kaizer Chiefs, it was one of those games – very challenging tactically. But the boys did extremely well to go to the next round, which is the final.”
