Golden Arrows coach Steve Komphela is a man of his word.
Well, he can also dance, as you’d see towards the end of this read.
For local football fans, he’s regarded as the coach with the sharpest tongue – always ready to deliver some English words that will see you reach for your dictionary.

In fact, Komphela’s grasp of the Queen’s language – amongst other languages, because he also speaks fluent Turkish from his time when be played in the Eastern European country in the 90s – led to him being imitated by football fan, Smangaliso Mdluli, a couple of years ago… watch below.

Komphela speaks fluent Turkish learnt from his time playing in Turkey in the 90s. There, he played for Gaziantepspor and Çanakkale Dardanelspor. During his time in Turkey, he hosted his own TV show, so was a centre of attention on and off the field.
The man from Kroonstad in the Free State is also a qualified English teacher.
To the surprise of Golden Arrows players, they got to see another different side of Komphela at training recently, when he took to the dance floor… well, on a football pitch, with goalkeeper coach Ricardo Miguel Pereira Gonçalves.
