Chippa United goalkeeper Ismael Watenga has made a bold statement ahead of their visit to Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chilli Boys will lock horns with Amakhosi in what promises to be a tactical match in the DStv Premiership.
Both sides have their tails up, after picking up crucial points in their previous matches. Chippa United held high-flying Golden Arrows to a goalless stalemate at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Chiefs, on the other hand defeated, Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday.
Watenga believes as much as they respect Chiefs but they will not give them much space.
“They are a big team and strong team, we respect them but we are not scared of them. We gonna respect them when they have the ball, we shall play them like any other team.”
“They are big but we are not scared, we just respect them. Winning against Chiefs is so important to us because we are not in a safe position.
“Getting three points is so important for us because we need to survive relegation,” said Watenga.
The Chilli Boys are obviously motivated after playing a draw against Golden Arrows in their previous match, their confidence has been boosted.
“We are so motivated and the mood is high in the camp after the draw with Golden Arrows, they are one of the big teams in the PSL this season.
“They were strong and organized so it’s motivating to us and it will help in the next game, knowing that we played well against them,” added Watenga.
The Chilli Boys will look to get revenge after losing 1-0 in the first leg against Amakhosi through an own goal.
