Current DStv Premiership log leaders Baroka will be chasing their third successive league victory when they take on Golden Arrows at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.
Bakgaga are the only team with a 100% start record since the beginning of the 2020/21 season, with wins against neighbours Black Leopards and Maritzburg United.
Chairman of the club Khurishi Mphahlele insists their recent form is not by fluke, but an indication that the team is well prepared.
“We worked for it, we worked for that position and it’s not by luck or by fluke,” Mphahlele told FARPost.
“We know that if we are well prepared anything is possible and we are going to do everything in our power to maintain that performance. To make sure that whatever game we lose, we must lose it with pride.
“People have their own opinion, but what do you mean it’s temporary? We have six points. It’s not temporary, that six points will not go away, it will be with us until the end of the season. When you say something is temporary you mean it’s just for today and tomorrow it’s gone. So our six points is not going away, it’s not temporary, it’s permanent,” he said.
“But we are playing, we are scoring goals, we even scored for Black Leopards because they didn’t score, we scored for them. So our performance cannot be temporary and our points cannot be temporary, it’s permanent because one thing for sure, after two matches Baroka are number one and that can’t change,” concluded Mphahlele.
The two clubs have met eight times in the League since 2016. Abafana Bes’thende have four wins, Bakgaga have won once with three draws.
