Despite recording five defeats in the DStv Premiership and rooted at the bottom of table with no points to their name, Maritzburg United caretaker coach Delron Buckley is adamant that his men are “playing good football.”
The Team of Choice’s winless run continued as they suffered 2-1 to SuperSport United on Friday night at Harry Gwala Stadium.
After a string of poor results this season the KwaZulu Natal outfit parted ways with Eric Tinkler and hired Ernst Middendorp a few days later for the fourth time.
Buckley, who will work with Middendorp says it was important for the players to keep their heads up.
“We are playing good football, the last four games, the things we are implementing at training is working in the game,” said Buckley.
It doesn’t get easy for Maritzburg as this week they host the defending champions and log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday evening (20:15) – leaving new coach Middendorp with a very tough task to lift the club from its current position.
“We just have to keep the players going, tell them how good they are, keep working on systems and tactics, which coach Middendorp is going to do in the next week,” concluded Buckley.
