Stellenbosch are enjoying a good run of form with 3 consecutive wins. However head coach Steve Barker says they cannot get ahead of themselves and “became complacent”.
“We can’t become complacent, we got to improve on many areas, we gotta keep working hard if we want to drive this team to be a team that grows every single game individually and collectively as a team so there’s a lot to hard work that still needs to be done, “said Barker.
Stellenbosch’s 1-0 victory over Polokwane City over the weekend sees them break into the top 8 of the Absa Premiership log for the for time this season.
Barker’s men are 7 points clear from the relegation zone.
“After the Celtic game we were in the bottom 2, now we in the top 8 – it does show that the league can change drastically-don’t get any points in your next 2-3 games and you may find yourself at the bottom, “ reiterated the Stellies mentor.
Stellenbosch are in their first season in the Absa Premiership and avoiding relegation is their mandate.
Their next league hame will be against struggling Black Leopards on Sunday, 02 February at Thohoyandou Stadium.
