SAFA Chief Financial Officer Gronie Hluyo insists the association is making huge progress in processing payments for various clubs and other areas.
An association named the South African Football Clubs Association (SAFOCA) released a statement last week claiming that, amongst other things SAFA have failed to;
– Pay ABC Motsepe League clubs their travelling allowances and prize monies for the past three seasons.
– Pay teams in the Regional Leagues for the past three seasons.
– SASOL League teams were only paid last week.
But Hluyo says so far the SAFA Finance department had dispersed monies to most clubs in the ABC Motsepe League.
“We have made significant progress in paying most of the clubs and other areas that we needed to pay urgently,” said Hluyo.
Hluyo added that the they have also paid Banyana Banyana players the bonus owed to them as well as clubs in the Sasol League.
“We have also paid all grants to the Regions. This is an ongoing process but I must emphasise that we have really made good progress in this regard,” he said in a statement released by SAFA.
SAFA insists the payments included prizes and travel subsidies that were delayed due to previous cash flow challenges.
