Zimbabwe number one goalkeeper George Chigova says he is hoping his country will collect maximum points in both of their fixtures against South Africa in Africa’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
The two neighbours were drawn together in Group G following the World Cup qualifying second round official draw in Egypt on Tuesday.
The Warriors will also face the Black Stars of Ghana and the Walia ibex of Ethiopia in the same group.
“It is big for both countries you know. We have not played South Africa in a long time and we have not got them in any group stage so now finally we have them,” Chigova told FARPost.co.za.
“We have so many players who play in the Absa Premiership and I am sure we will be facing a lot of players from South Africa who play in this league so it will be an exciting game and we are hoping to get 6 points from Bafana Bafana.”
The last time the 2 countries met was in an international friendly match in 2013 when Zimbabwe won 2-1.
In the 15 official matches between the two, Zimbabwe have won 7 times, South Africa 6 and there have been 2 draws.
