After bowing out of the 2020 Nedbank Cup on Sunday, Hungry Lions head coach Hendry Basie insists their goal was to end up making history and lift the Nedbank Cup.

Lions were knocked out in the Last 16 round by Baroka following a 4-2 defeat in a penalty shoot-out in Polokwane on Sunday.

The ABC Motsepe League side showed some great display during their 1-0 win over Jomo Cosmos in the last 32 round as well as against their Absa Premiership opponents Baroka.

“We wanted to win it because ones you go into a competition you don’t go on a lower level but you tell yourself that I want to this one,” Basie told reporters after the match.

“So we wanted to win it all costs but unfortunately we fell out today but I think I am proud of the boys they fought and I think for us coming from the Northern Cape it’s a bit of history going into the books.”

Lions are current log Leaders in the Northern Cape ABC Motsepe League and are undefeated so far in all the 17 matches they have played in the League.
