We will not be naive against Stellies – Seema

Chippa United will be looking to carry on where they left off before the FIFA International break, when they take on Stellenbosch at Danie Craven Stadium this afternoon  (15:30).

The Chilli Boys claimed their first win of the season against Maritzburg United, thanks to a hat-trick from Bienvenu Eva Nga.

Stellies on the other hand suffered a 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United in their last match.

“Stellenbosch are going to come out with guns blazing, more so because they are playing at home,” said Seema ahead of the encounter.

“It’s always important to get maximum points especially playing at home. So we are going there knowing exactly what to expect and we will never be naive and shy away.

“We will face them head on. Having said that we are saying to the Chippa United supporters, we are very thankful and they must keep on supporting the team as we take small strides making this Chippa United brand a recognizable brand in the Premier League,” he said.

In head-to-head stats, Stellenbosch and Chippa have met in two top-flight league matches.

Both encounters took place last season, with the teams drawing 0-0 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in August 2019 and 1-1 at Tuks Stadium in August 2020, with goals from Waseem Isaacs and Thokozani Sekotlong.
