We’re not in a hurry for Kerr’s DC – Baroka

Suspended Baroka coach Dylan Kerr will have to wait a bit longer to know the date for his disciplinary case appearance.

This is after the club’s acting CEO Richard Mashabane has said the club is not in a hurry to set up the date for the hearing and are still consulting their legal team.

Kerr has been charged with insubordination and bringing the club into disrepute.

FARPost can confirm that the coach clashed with club chairman Khurishi Mphahlele on Saturday, 2 October at the Ranch Hotel in Polokwane after a friendly match with SuperSport United.

“We are still waiting, we have not given him a date for his hearing. We took the matter to our lawyers because we also wanted to give him time to prepare for our hearing,” said Mashabane.

“The team is not in a hurry, as you see Coach Phahla (Matsimela Thoka) is taking over for now, until further notice or until coach Kerr goes to the hearing. We are not in a hurry because we also believe in our technical team.

“The assistant coach Phahla Matsimela and the goalkeeper coach Thomas Nare and our MDC coach Job Maphutha, we believe in them. We know the season is about to start and we are starting against Maritzburg United here at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

“We are not in a hurry, we don’t want to put anyone in any pressure at the moment because we might end up taking wrong decisions as management.

“We will have a date for the coach to come to the hearing and we will take a decision from there. We did explain to the players the day we suspended the coach, we had a meeting with the technical team first before the players because most of them saw the incident that took place at the Ranch (hotel).

“People still think it’s the post-match incident that happened after the Mamelodi Sundowns match and that is not the case.

“The incident happened at the Ranch and we charged him with insubordination and bringing the club into disrepute. So those are the charges but we cannot disclose what transpired,” added Mashabane.

‘Bakgaga’ will commence their 2020/21 DStv Premiership with a home encounter against SuperSport United on Saturday 24 October at 15:30.
