Lehlogonolo Matlou has walked straight into the Swallows starting line-up after joining the club from Portuguese side Sanjoanense.
The 23-year-old midfielder has played three matches so far this season for the Soweto side, helping in attack and defence.
Swallows head coach, Brandon Truter had massive praise for the midfielder in his first season with ‘The Birds’ following their Soweto Derby 1-0 defeat against Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium on Saturday in a league clash.
“His work rate, from a midfield position, I don’t think there is any other 8 that covers as much ground as Matlou in the league, box to box, always,” said Truter.
“And when there are defensive situations you can see him involved and when there are offensive situations he is in the opposition penalty area.
“Technically, he is very good, and the boy is not scared to work hard, the boy is not scared to get stuck in as well.”
According to Truter, the former SA U20 international, Bidvest Wits Reserves and Cape Umoya United man has looked good in central midfielder so far and has proven to be a good signing.
“I would say he is one of the complete midfielders in the league, still young, he is one for the future. hence the reason he is starting all the games,” concluded Truter.
