Why Ajax star player Mosiatlhaga missed iKapa Derby

Leading goal scorer Abednego Mosiatlhaga was a surprise absentee for Ajax Cape Town when the GladAfrica Championship log leaders lost 1-0 to neighbours Cape Umoya FC in the iKapa Derby on Friday.

Mosiatlhaga who last season helped Stellenbosch FC gain promotion to the Absa Premiership with his 5 goals and 6 assists, tops the GladAfrica Championship goal scoring charts with 16 goals in 21 games this season.

The ‘Urban Warriors’ looked unsettled with veteran striker Eleazer Rodgers seemingly isolated without his partner in crime, but club coach Calvin Marlin has since explained why the 25-year-old missed the all-important derby.
Marlin gave the media an update on the injury of Ajax’s key man, Mosiatlhaga.

“No, he is back next week. We found a little bit more issues on his foot and we thought originally. But he is healed now, and he starts training next week,” said the Ajax coach.

Ajax take on TS Galaxy in their next GladAfrica Championship match at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday at 3:30pm.
