The showboating by Orlando Pirates midfielder Fortune Makaringe in their 1-0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday night didn’t go down well with Downs coach Pitso Mosimane.
The former Bafana Bafana coach mocked Makaringe’s “dangerous move”.
What Mosimane actually meant was that Makaringe’s showbaoting was unnecessary and no threat to Sundowns.
Mosimane went as far as saying that Pirates assistant coach Fadlu Davids apologised to him for Makaringe’s showboating.
Davids worked with Makaringe at Maritzburg United some couple of seasons ago and Davids told Mosimane that he never taught Makaringe “those things” while they were at the Team of Choice.
The video below shows Mosimane imitating Makaringe’s showboating…
While chatting to the media after the match, Mosimane expressed his disappointment (in the video below).
Showboating is a contentious issue in South Africa.
While the fans enjoy the “Kasi Flavour” as they would call it, those in the professional ranks believe it’s of no benefit to a team and therefore unnecessary in the game.
