James Kotei’s proposed switch from Kaizer Chiefs to Tanzanian side Young Africans has fallen through.
Young Africans’ new coach Luc Eymael has explained why they didn’t sign Kotei, who left South Africa for Tanzania last week and was expected to join Yanga on a 2-year deal.
He was in Tanzania recently since leaving South Africa and has not trained with Chiefs since then.
“James Kotei I don’t think he will (sign with Yanga) because his mind is not okay,” said Eymael.
“He’ll go back to his country (Ghana) to relax a bit… I don’t know, that’s what he responded to the club. He said he had signed a contract of 2 years at Kaizer Chiefs and his wife had to leave her job in Ghana to come to South Africa.”
Eymael added that Kotei said he isn’t ready to start another challenge.
FARPost sources have however confirmed that he’s definitely leaving Chiefs and he’s now likely to end up at Zambian side, ZESCO United.
Kotei’s foreign space at Chiefs will be taken over by Anthony Akumu, the Kenyan international who himself was at ZESCO until he parted ways with the club recently.
