Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic says winning the Absa Premiership top goal scorer award would be a huge achievement for him, but winning the title with his club is more important.
The Serbian is currently on 13 goals, two behind joint top scorers Gabadinho Mhango and Peter Shalulile and one behind Bradley Grobler.
With two goals since the resumption of football in August, the 28-year-old is hoping to find the back of the net when they take on Baroka in their last match on Saturday.
“I will be the happiest if I win that award but the truth is the team is in the first place and the individual awards are coming next,” said Nurkovic.
“The main set (goal) is to win the title and to help the team as much as possible. My job as a striker is to score as much as possible and I will be the happiest to score on Saturday in the last game.
“I was not here for the past five seasons but it’s not acceptable not to win the title because they deserve everything. The way everything is working in the club, everything is on the highest level. The players have basically everything so like I said we deserve to be on the first place and we fought from the beginning of the season to be there. We are going to fight in the last game for all the 100 minutes.” he said.
Nurkovic has been a revelation for Amakhosi since signing at the beginning of the season providing six league assists on top of the 14 goals in all competitions.
