Bidvest Wits head coach Gavin Hunt was impressed with the performance of his latest acquisition Cameroonian striker, Bienvenu Eva Nga on debut against Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday evening at the Bidvest Stadium.
Eva Nga played for 75 minutes in his first outing as Wits came from behind to claim a thrilling 3-2 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in an Absa Premiership clash.
“He was fantastic, he held it for us, he did well, I think the delivery of the ball in certain areas, I mean he had two, three chances to score himself, just the ball wasn’t delivered at the right time, that’s been the problem for us all season, “said Hunt.
The 26-year-old was recently signed by the Students from Mozambique side Costa do Sol where he was the top goal scorer in the Mozambican league, with 24 goals.
The Wits mentor was happy with Eva Nga even before he stepped onto the pitch to play in his first official Absa Premiership game against Celtic Phunya Sele Sele.
“I’ve been watching Eva for some time now and I like what I see,” said Hunt.
Meanwhile, Wits chief operations officer Jonathan Schloss described Eva as an ‘exciting striker’ who will thrive in their club environment.
The Students with their win over Celtic move 11 points adrift of leaders Kaizer Chiefs, but have three games in hand.
Phunya Sele Sele, meanwhile, drop to sixth place on the log standings with the defeat.
