The prize is an initiative of Sociedade Notícias, SA, owner of Jornal Desafio, in partnership with Mozambican Football League and is sponsored by Motorcare/Nissan.

Nga shrugged off competition from Sidique of Desportivo de Maputo who finished on second place and Ferroviaro de Maputo defender Chico who settled for third place.

The 27-year-old Cameroonian has replaced Telinho as Mozambique player of the year.

Nga joined Costa do Sol from Portuguese side Amora in January 2019.
