Bidvest Wits have failed to register a win at home in their last three Absa Premiership encounters, but Brandon Petersen is hopeful that his side will get a positive result when they take on Black Leopards at Bidvest Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Kickoff is at 19:30 for the rescheduled fixture after the meeting between the two sides at the Bidvest Stadium last month was called off due to inclement weather.
Leopards head into the clash on the back of a 2-0 loss in the Limpopo Derby against rivals Baroka FC this past weekend and the Wits shot-stopper Petersen say they expect wounded Leopards to come at them with everything including the kitchen sink.
“We all know that they [Leopards] are going to go all out on Tuesday in order to try and get out of the last place on the log standings. We know it’s going to be a fight out there on Tuesday and I think if we stick to our guns and play our game we can come out on top,” said Petersen.
In their 10 home league games this season, ‘The Clever Boys’ have only managed to collect 15 points – four wins, three draws and three losses with their most recent result being a goalless draw against Chippa United on Saturday.
“I wouldn’t say that we’ve been struggling at home, I think we’ve been playing well at home, the only thing is that we can’t seem to score,” added Petersen.
“We’ve been doing everything right, but the ball just doesn’t want to go into the back of the net.”
‘Lidoda Duvha’ on the other hand have accumulated just five points from their 11 away matches this season and are rooted at the bottom of the log standings with 20 points in 23 games.
Wits are sixth on the log standings, 13 points adrift of league leaders Kaizer Chiefs but having played two games less and 25-year-old Petersen still believes that they can still clinch the title.
“We need to keep believing that it can happen. We also need to try and get maximum points from all our remaining 10 fixtures,” concluded Petersen.
