Wits pile more misery on Leopards

Bidvest Wits midfielder Terrence Dzvukamanja added to Allan Clark’s problems as his first-half goal sealed a 1-0 victory over woeful Black Leopards on Tuesday evening at the Bidvest Stadium.

Having failed to win their last three home games, Wits returned to winning ways and moved within ten points of log leaders Kaizer Chiefs in sixth place.

While Leopards are rooted at the bottom of the log standings, flirting with relegation as they suffered their eighth successive defeat in Absa Premiership away games for the first time in their PSL history.

According to Opta Jabu, It’s the worst away run by any side since Jomo Cosmos in 2015 (9) – Homesick.

The Limpopo based side is three points away from safety.

20 – Leopards have won 20 points from 24  League games. Of the 27 sides that had 20 points or less at this stage of a 30-game season (2002+), only 4 of them finished higher than 15th – Endangered.

10 – Wits have now kept 10 clean sheets in the league this season, becoming the fifth club to reach the milestone after Maritzburg United, Chippa United,  SuperSport and Kaizer Chiefs – Shutout.

1 – Leopards have kept just one clean sheet away from home in the league since their promotion at the start of last season.
