Wits sign Zim right-back

Bidvest Wits have completed the signing of Zimbabwean defender McClive Phiri on a two – year-deal.

According to a reliable source at the Clever Boys the Warriors right-back has signed a performance-based contract with the Absa Premiership club.

The 26-year-old has been training with the Braamfontein-based club for four weeks now.

His former teammate at Ngezi Platinum Terrence Dzukamanja is also at Wits.

Phiri has represented Zimbabwe four times, twice in the World Cup qualifiers against Djibouti and Somalia and another two in the two-legged CHAN final against Lesotho.

Phiri’s qualities are overlapping and delivering quality crosses.

FARPost understands Zimbabwean Premier League clubs Chicken Inn and CAPS United were also eyeing the player.

Wits official Jonathan Schloss and head coach Gavin Hunt couldn’t be reached for a comment.
