WRAP: Downs Ladies win Super League with three games to spare

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have retained their Hollywoodbets Super League title following their 2-1 victory over JVW FC at Groenkloof Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Jerry Tshabalala’s troops are six points clear ahead of second-placed Tshwane University of Technology (TUT Ladies) and have wrapped up the title with three games to spare.

Banyana Ba Style came into this contest as Cosafa and TotalEnergies Caf Women’s Champions League champions, and left as treble champions, thanks to goals by Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Chantel Esau.

Downs Ladies are still unbeaten in two seasons since the women professional league was formed.

In another mouthwatering fixture, First Touch FC succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at the expense of TUT Ladies at Seshego Stadium.

TUT Ladies, on the other hand, have extended their unbeaten run to nine matches with one game left to play.

With all being said, congratulations are in order to the Queens of Africa, Sundowns Ladies.
