Bloemfontein Celtic coach Lehlohonolo Seema has given an update on former Bafana Bafana striker Tokelo Rantie who started training with the club last month.
The 29-year-old resurfaced at Siwelele after his contract at Mamelodi Sundowns was terminated following the player’s failure to show up at training for a month.
Seema has since revealed that the former Bournemouth marksman has been placed at a high performance centre in Mangaung.
“He is a Free State boy and we would like to give him a chance because the quality you can’t doubt. The way it is going for now if you ask me today (when he will sign) I would not give you an answer but you know how it changes because we are also giving him special training sessions at a high performance Centre so we are trying to push him because really the quality is there,” Seema told reporters.
“Rantie is still training with us we have not even started assessing him that much because we are still conditioning him very well because he was far behind so the only thing we are giving him is a second chance and he might train up until the end of the season if he doesn’t come right then he can start the pre-season with us,” he said.
The last time Rantie played a professional soccer match was back in October 2017 while he was still at Turkish side Gençlerbirliği.
