Swallows head coach Brandon Truter has heaped praise on Sanele Tshabalala, who is holding the fort at the club in the absence of Virgil Vries.
Tshabalala, 23, has kept three consecutive clean sheets in the DStv Premiership since making his top flight football debut against Stellenbosch FC two weeks ago.
“Sanele has now kept three clean sheets in a row, he is comfortable, and his reflexes are good, hands and his distribution is there for everyone to see,” said Truter.
“He has grown in leaps and bounds, we have to give credit to the goalkeeper coach – Johan Abselon and also to Vries and Thela [Ngobeni] as well for helping him along so well done to him, I have always had confidence in him.
The Soweto side drew their 19th league game of the season against newly-crowned champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the weekend and Truter was happy that his troops managed to maintain their unbeaten run at home this campaign.
“I am proud of the boys as we showed that we can compete against the champions. We are on the right track, as we want to build for next season. We are the only team unbeaten at home this season with two games to go,” added Truter.
Swallows will visit AmaZulu at the King’s Park Stadium in Durban on Wednesday.
“For us now the challenge of course is to get the best players on the park, for AmaZulu, our next game. They would want to win to cement second spot as well, so it’s going to be an interesting game,” he concluded.
