Ivory Coast winger Wilfried Zaha has made the English Premier League Team of the Week after his Man of the Match performance last weekend against West Bromwich Albion.
The winger has scored seven league goals and assisted two further strikes in nine league starts this season.
Crystal Palace have now moved up to 11th spot on the log table with 16 points after 11 Premier League games. Belgian striker Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha both scored a brace and Darnell Furlong scored an own goal as Crystal Palace won 5-1 on the road.
Conor Gallagher scored the only goal for West Bromwich Albion as they got baptized with fire by the ‘Eagles’.
Since the arrival of Eberechi Eze from Queens Park Rangers in the recent transfer window, the two attackers have started four games together this season and Crystal Palace have drawn two games and won two games with the duo scoring 10 goals between them with an average of 40 shots on goal between them in the four games.
There was a lot of speculation about whether the Ivorian would be staying or leaving ‘Salhurst Park’ with a lot of interest from Arsenal and Manchester United for his services, but the club decided against selling him.
Crystal Palace have started the season well compared to how they did last season where they had to dig deeper to stay clear of the relegation zone. Benteke has also added some firepower upfront after returning to scoring ways with the two goals, an attack of Benteke, Zaha and Eze seems to be shaping up for the season.
Some of the notable names in the Team of the Week include Liverpool midfielder Fabio Henrique Tavares (known as Fabihno), Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes and Tottenham Hotspur’s attacking duo of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.
The ‘Eagles’ next host high-flying Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon in the Premiership in a game that is expected to deliver fireworks especially in attack as both teams are on form.
Tottenham is also full of confidence after defeating local town rivals Arsenal 2-0 in the league last Sunday.
