The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has made a formal request to CAF to host the 2021 Africa U/17 Cup of Nations.
The 14th edition of the tournament was due to take place in Morocco between 13-31 March.
Caf announced a last minute cancellation only five days before it was due to begin, due to the covid-19 pandemic.
The Southern Africa nation has now raised their hand to host the eight nations youth tournament.
“Following the cancellation of the U/17 Afcon tournament in Morocco, we wish to express our interest to fill in the gap created by hosting the tournament in Zambia on dates to be approved by CAF,” FAZ said in a letter to Africa’s football mother body.
“We firmly believe that we shall be up to the task drawing our strength from having successfully hosted the U/20 Afcon tournament in 2017 followed by the U-20 COSAFA tournament in 2019. We submit for your consideration and additional guidance as may be required,” said Secretary Adrian Kashala.
