Green Buffaloes hammering the Zambian Super League champions Nkana 5-0 will easily grab the headlines, but the highlight of the match came in the second half when an angry fan invaded the pitch to confront coach Manfred Chabinga on the bench.
The encounter was played on Wednesday at Nkoloma Stadium as Nkana’s poor start to the 2020/21 season continued, suffering a second defeat in four matches.
Buffaloes were leading 3-0 when the ugly incident occurred which to a certain extent overshadowed the outstanding display of football by Buffaloes as they registered their first victory of the season.
Friday Samu scored a brace, Martin Phiri, Fredrick Mwimanzi and Youremember Banda added a goal each to condemn the champions to an embarrassing defeat.
While Chabinga and his assistant, Joseph Musonda, were busy rallying their fallen troops, fans threw all sorts of missiles on the pitch but one brave die-hard Nkana fan took it a notch up as he ran onto the field of play and struck Chabinga with a chair on the head as per reports from Zambia.
The Kalampa fan’s actions infuriated Chabinga’s technical team as an exchange of punches followed with Chabinga forced to retaliate before a few police officers present at the stadium rushed to intervene.

This is really shocking to see and immediately you begin to ask a lot of questions about the security presence during the game. pic.twitter.com/FLId1jdvqG

The match was then halted for about 17 minutes with Chabinga and assistant Musonda coach receiving red cards for their misconduct.
With Nkana failing to control their fans during the match, the club is likely to be fined by Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).
