FARPost can confirm that there are technical team changes at Zambian top club, Zesco United.
It’s now public knowledge that Zesco United have parted ways with coach George Lwandamina with immediate effect, a surprise departure for the experienced tactician.
“ZESCO United Football Club management would like to thank coach George Lwandamina for his services in the last three seasons which resulted in the team winning two league titles and one Absa cup trophy,” Chief Executive Officer Richard Mulenga said in a statement.
“The club will immediately begin the recruitment process for a new fulltime head coach.”
Despite the secrecy around the incoming coach, FARPost in Zambia have revealed that Mumamba Numba, formerly with Zanaco, is stepping in to replace Lwandamina.
“Numba is definitely the frontrunner.,” confirmed one of our sources, who’s privy to the happenings at Zesco.
Numba, however, has big shoes to fill. Lwandamina won four Zambia league titles with Zesco over two spells, including back-to-back wins in 2018 and 2019.
The Football Association of Zambia are hoping to start the new 2020/21 domestic season next month after the last one was cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
