Mozambique will host Cameroon at the National Stadium of Zimpeto in the fourth qualifying round of the 2022 African Nations Cup (AFCON) in November as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have decided to extend the temporary approval of the Stadium for international matches.
However, CAF reiterates that the approval is subject to the continued implementation of the observations made in the last inspection visit and further improvements need to be made in order for the stadium to be definitively approved.
In a statement, the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) said that “this measure was based on the report presented by the Federation to CAF”.
“CAF expresses satisfaction with the advances made to adapt ENZ to the required standards and emphasizes the points of attention so that it can be definitively approved to host CAF competitions in the senior male category”, reads the statement of the FMF.
“FMF appreciates and congratulates the cooperation of the Secretary of State for Sport, which in a joint effort has allowed the positive evolution of the work.”
